Product Selection
This page will eventually be a reference
to select the best oil for your car from our range of lubricants.
Due to the many models of cars and other machinery this page will
only ever be a general guide. Other factors affecting the
correct selection of lubrication are of course the condition of
the vehicle and the previous service record. Persons wishing
to decide on the best lubrication for their application can refer
to the manufacturer's specification and find the correct product
to match those specification in our Product Specifications
page.
You are also welcome to contact your local
dealer or reseller for the appropiate product for your application,
or contact head office via email to oil@bimlube.com.au for a prompt answer to your query.

About vehicle condition.
We will make our recommendation on the
best lubrication solution for your application based on the information
you supply. It is necessary to give our distributorr, reseller
or head office staff a clear picture of the condition of your vehicle
or machine to ensure the best product is supplied. Bimrose
Lubricants can not work miracles with worn out or damaged machines,
but our experience is that in all cases, you will benefit from the
use of our products.
Vehicle condition - what it all means.
New vehicle or recently overhauled.
If your vehicle is new with less than 10,000
kilometres travelled, or in the case of a machine, has not had it's
first service or has been recently overhauled and meets the same
criteria. We would need to know what products had been previously
used, e.g. running in oil for first 1,000 k. then brand x, spec
y oil.
Vehicle is in good condition.
This means different things to different
people, but to us it means that the vehicle has been regularlt serviced,
does not use oil between changes, has good oil pressure and does
not have audible mechanical noise. In the case of gear boxes
and drive units the service has been regularly, there is a good
firm shift and no abnormal noise in operation. Due to the
many types of services a vehicle may encounter, there is no hard
and fast rule of the distance travelled or the hours operated.
Vehicle is in fair condition.
In this case the engine may use a little
oil between services (less than 1/2 litre), but would not emit visible
exhaust smoke. A puff of smoke while starting may sometimes
be seen. This vehicle would be fairly close to needing an
overhaul, but you may find that use of appropriate product may delay
the need for overhaul far beyond expectations. The gear shift may
be a little worn and sometimes there may be gear meshing sounds
at some speeds.
Vehicle in in poor condition.
Your vehicle uses up to 2 litres of oil
between services. There may be visible blue smoke from the
exhaust while driving and especially after the engine has been idling.
Gear shift may be difficult and may not change smoothly from one
gear to the next. Bimrose Lubricant has been known to assist
even in these cases to reduce smoke, emmision and oil usage.
Our product will even assist in reducing oil loss from leaking seals,
but as we said before we can't guarantee success.
Vehicle in very poor condition.
Your vehicle uses more than one litre per
1,000 kilometres. Bear in mind sometimes this can be the result
of poor bedding in of rings after overhaul. If the vehicle
has a high milage, it would be wise to overhaul the engine and then
use Bimrose Lubricants to keep the motor in good condition.
How you save using Bimrose Lubricants.
Everyone asks the question, "How can
I save using your products". We always find this the
most difficult question to answer as everyone has different expectations.
If you have a new vehicle or a good used vehicle you have to decide
how long you plan to keep the vehicle. If you look after the
vehicle you will always get a better resale value, even if the vehicle
has a high milage.
The way it works when you sell or trade
your vehicle is this. The vehicle has a "book market
value" that assumes it is in good condition for it's age.
Value is deducted for any work that has to be done to bring the
vehicle up to this standard. So if you have some panel damage,
the cost of fixing this is deducted. Then the cost of any
mechanical repairs is deducted. The amount the dealer expects
to make is also deducted including cost of advertising and selling.
What is left is what you get for a trade in. Obviously if
the vehicle is in good mechanical condition, (as it would be if
you used Bimrose Lubricants) you will get a better trade in value.
The other way you save is a little more
tangable. We will assume that you service your vehicle regularly
at the recommended interval of 10,000 kilometres. At this
time you will pay around $25 for any decent motor oil, and around
$10 for a filter for a common car. That's $35 for oil and
filter plus labour every 10,000 k. Using Bimrose Lubricants, you
can extend your service interval to 20,000 kilometres. This
would be $35 for oil and still $10 for an oil filter. Total
cost would be $45 plus labour for 20,000 k.
Let's say labour is 1/2 hour at $50 per
hour. That would make the standard service cost come in at
$120 for 20,000 kilometres. Using Bimrose Lubricants you will
pay out $70 for 20,000 kilometres. That is a real saving of
$50! Add the benefit of not needing to hang around the service
centre or arrange transport to and from work and you have even more
saving.
Your car will virtually have wear in the
engine and transmission as a thing of the past, so your car will
be in excellent mechanical condition when you choose to trade.
My question to you is "How can you
afford not to use Bimrose Lubricants as a regular part of you vehicle
service?"
